Great Religions which have had a tremendous impact on the history of War and Civilization...
...shown here with respect for all...

"I remember that all
through history, the way of truth and love has always won;
there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible,
but in the end they always fall."
~ Mahatma Gandhi

| JUDAISM
- Sacred writings: The Law and The Prophets, The Psalms, The Talmud "Hear O' Israel, the LORD thy GOD is ONE LORD and beside him there is no other. In spite of their many outstanding contributions to world culture and science, one of the most amazing things about the Jewish people, the Jewish Religion and the Jewish Nation- is that they still exist today. This tiny nation is only nine miles wide and welcomes pilgrims of all faiths. Jerusalem was the Holy City of the Hebrews long before it became a Holy City to three of the world's great religions. Since the times of the ancient Persian kings massive systematic efforts have been made to exterminate the Jewish people down to the last babe in arms... but the light of this people has not gone out... this is what Hannukah, the festival of lights celebrated by Jews the world over symbolizes... "If their teaching is of men, it will come to nothing, if it be from GOD nothing can stop it." ~ Gamaliel

In Jerusalem, Holy City of the Christians the most famous Roman execution in history took place, Jesus Christ, ( 34 A.D.) who was only one of three thousand Jews crucified by the Romans in Jerusalem that year alone. They were nailing Jews to the walls of the city because there were not enough scaffolds to satisfy the Romans lust for blood. Will Durant, eminent secular humanist historian was troubled by the resurrection of Christ but still had to say "...if we challenge the historicity of Jesus Christ, then Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, and other notables of history would fade into legend because there is so much less evidence of their existence... " The keys of the kingdom of Heaven Jesus gave Peter: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is for you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off... even as many as our Lord our God shall call."

ISLAM - Sacred writings: The Holy Koran ( Q'ran ) and The Hadith ( Sayings of the prophet ) "There is only ONE GOD and Mohammed is his prophet." ( peace be on him ) A revival of the Abrahamic Covenant of promise in the 7th century in Saudi Arabia, Islam now reaches the entire world. The Koran ( Q'ran ) is actually the most tolerant of all the world's great religious books regarding other faiths, explaining that the Jewish and Christian prophets were also valid and inspired by the same one true GOD. Islam, like Judaism, denies the divinity of Christ. Islam is also the fastest growing of the world's great Religions with large peaceful followings in Europe, all over Asia, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas as well as it's Arabian lands of origin. Illustrating Islam proved to be a bit more challenging since heroic equestrian poses of Muhammad, ( peace be on him ) would offend the faithful. Instead, I elected to depict the holy shrine in Jerusalem, one of the many important Holy Cities of the Muslims being visited by pilgrims..."The Dome of the Rock" is built directly on top of the original Hebrew Temple. Pilgrimage is a very important part of the Muslim faith and the most sacred of all the Muslim holy sites are in Saudi Arabia.
And now for our 2nd major grouping... Polytheism, the worship of or belief in more than one god

| WORLD PAGANISM - Sacred writings: The Vedas
& The Upanisads, The Sayings of Confucious, Sefir Hazohar, The Book of
law, and numerous others... "Do what thou wilt is the whole of the law" Ask 100 pagans: "What is Paganism?" and you're likely to get 100 different answers. Through the ages it has often been characterized by Animism, Polytheism, the worship of Nature Spirits & or the practice of Demon Worship. This includes the massive numbers who follow Taoism, Hinduism & many others today. Some Buddhists also believe in a goddess, a symbol of compassion, called Kwan Yin in China and Kwannon in Japan. The Pagan Religions of today, and of Ancient times... the Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Greeks, Romans, Celts, Vikings and others were then and are still now amazingly similar the world over...

Is Apollo another name for Lucifer? ...the Queen of Heaven is a great
example of this commonality as well: the goddess was referred to by
many names including Semiramis, Isis, Mama, Hera, Ishtar, (Easter),
and others. The Queen of Heaven had such a strong cult following at the Council of Nicea
in 325 A.D. that the Roman Catholic Church re-invented
Mary in her image- completely embracing polytheism
& pagan goddess worship. Even though they persecuted Pagans, Roman Catholicism
combined Christianity with Paganism and many Protestant Churches retain her polytheistic
doctrines to this day. The Protestant Reformation was more about where the money
went than doctrine. "De'esse et chime're" below from the Book of Revelation
portrays a mystic vision of this Christian/Pagan hybrid (For more related
spiritual
art & themes visit the World Mythology or Symbolist Art Galleries below.) By the
mid 20th Century Western Paganism was widely thought to have faded into history. In spite of the highly technological environment of the 21st century revivals of ancient pagan goddess worship, animism, and nature worship in new forms are appearing all over the world. Like all faiths, Pagans have also at times been systematically and brutally persecuted... ***** "I remember that all through
history, the way of truth and love has always won;

"It is best not to use only one source or only modern sources for researching history unless you know the bias of the author. The predjudices of the authors above are easily sorted out by reading their differing accounts of the fall of Jerusalem when Titus came in and destroyed the temple. Once you know the bias of the author, his work is a more solid contribution to your research. For example, H.G. Welles was openly anti-semetic, Will Durant was openly anti-christian, Eusibius was a Christian minister, Bishop of Cesarea, and Cornelius Tacitus was a Roman Pagan, and they all tailored history to fit their belief systems."~HDJ
