WORK HISTORY

Art Teacher : Cedar Creek Elementary School/Bastrop ISD            8/2000 - To date

I am currently teaching art to more than 800 students from Kindergarten - 4th grade. I have taught various projects such as Ceramic Bells, Aboriginal Art, Pinatas for Cinco de Mayo, and Silhouette Weaving.  I use the hallways to display each class' artwork throughout the school as an art gallery.  I planned a fieldtrip for the 4th graders to go to an art museum at the University of Texas at Austin.  I participated in the National PTA Art Reflections Contest and the Bastrop Salinas Art Contest.  I have participated in the Regional E-Teach/TIE Grant Program to learn and implement the ISTE technological standards for the schools in the State of Texas.  I also attended the Technological Conference 2001 and have taken classes through Connected University.  I also attended the CHAMPs workshop in the summer of 2000.

Content Mastery Teacher : Decker Elementary School/Manor ISD    8/1999 - 8/2000

I taught both regular and special education children.  I taught all subjects and modified their assignments as needed to make sure they gained a working knowledge of the material.  I administered TAAS and practice TAAS to the special education students, in addition to the alternative TAAS and the ITBS.  I attended the Technology Conference 2000 in February, the Michael Eaton math 3rd - 5th grade workshop, Gourmet Readers, the ADEPT workshop, Primarily TAAS, and the Igniting Interest in Social Studies: Grade 3 - 5 TEKS workshop at Region XIII.  I also had training in Photoshop 5, Fractal Design Painter 5, ClarisWorks, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Gradebook 2, Outlook and the scanning, printing, and Internet tools that I use everyday.  I worked closely with the school's computer systems technician in helping to educate the teachers in the use of their computers.  I also served on the Local Support Team and the Attendance Committees.

Long Term Substitute at Linder Elementary/Austin ISD        9/98 - 11/98

I taught a third grade class for six weeks.  We did quite a few hands-on activities, cooperative group learning in Science and Social Studies, and manipulatives in Mathematics.  I also used Behavior Contracts, in which students brainstormed causes and solutions for behaviors.  I attended Reading workshops, TAAS workshops, in-service trainings, and administered the ITBS.  The Principal, Lina Flores, was very pleased with my performance and has said she will provide written references upon request.

Personal Tutor for the Junggoo Kim Family           4/98 - 10/98

I taught language arts and algebra four days a week to their two daughters, whose native language is Korean.   The eldest was in 6th grade and the youngest was in 3rd grade.  Meeting our objectives, such as to keep the younger sister out of ESL, broadened my capabilities.

Austin Independent School District/Substitute Services          11/97 - 5/99

I have substituted from grades Pre - K to 6th grade, as well as art, P.E., and child care.  Although normally this is not considered valid teaching experience, my attitude made it very much so.   I'm always ready, willing, and able to adapt to any honorable environment and personalities.   I always covered the material in a professional manner and left the classroom clean, no matter what.  Dr. Mary Lou Clayton, Principal of Lee Elementary, has agreed to provide a solid written reference upon request.

Casis Elementary/Austin ISD Student Teacher         2/97 - 12/97

I did a lot of cooperative group learning, and drew up lesson plans with the Madeline Hunter style, used cooperative discipline, attended in-service training, and developed rubrics for cooperative lessons and book reports.  I also worked with computer programs, such as ClarisWorks and Hollywood Theatrix.

INTERPERSONAL TRAITS AND ATTITUDE

I am a dependable and patient person with a lifelong love of learning.  I love working with people, especially children.  I'm organized, obedient, hardworking, creative, and adaptable.   I have a way of reaching the students' hearts and minds, a way of getting them to believe in themselves.  I'm able to balance kindness with strictness.  I love creating a colorful and exciting learning environment.  I am an expert with computers and have a working knowledge of more programs than there is room to list here.  My attitude is that I will do the best I can to serve the district, the school, and therefore the children.  The students are always priority number one with me.  I bring a "Can Do" attitude with me to work everyday.
